Coast Grown: June Is Time To Grow!

Spring has finally sprung out here on the Northwest Coast and we are hopefully headed for summer weather. It was definitely a cool, breezy and wet April, May and June (so far)... we are not complaining however since our region has been in drought for over a decade. 

It now looks like some sunshine in the forecast which is good because we have a lot of seedlings to plant. We have already been busy ordering and germinating seeds, propagating plants and preparing our hugelkultur beds, mulching, mulching and more mulching. We have also divided and replanted a bunch of bamboo and we have also divided and transplanted a lot of nettle, mullein and other various native flowers and such. Lastly, we have a decet amount of veggie starts nearly ready for planting and of course a ton of potatoes planted and already growing like crazy. Here are our selections for the Coast Grown 2022 outdoor season. 

KUSH CAKE

Genetics: CBD Cake x Remedy Kush Diesel

Chemotype: Type III CBD

Sex: Feminized

Purpose: Hash Plant, Premium Flower 

Harvest: Late September, Early October

Characteristics: Indica Hybrid, Cake Gas Profile

Grow: Outdoor

CBD Cake came from Italy and has its roots in Reggae Seeds Dancehall which has become a staple in many premium hemp lines, including kush hemp. She is a 50/50 Hybrid that produces incredibly resinous flowers and heavy yields. And as far as Hemp goes, this is as close to the Cake profile that can be found. It definitely has a sweet doughy aroma that hits you first, and on the second inhale you get a little gas and some funk. Combined with the Remedy Kush Diesel, I can't imagine the flavor combinations to come. This is also the sister to CBD Candy. While CBD Candy brings pure sweetness, expect a strong Cake profile with this one and resin for days.

THE OC V2

This is the next generation of OC's.

The Otto II in this cross shines through with higher resin content as well purple hues and unique terpene profiles. If you're tired of all the berry and sweet smelling hemp, you'll be pleasantly surprised with the OC's. Smells from basil, to ammonia, to haze, and some citrus skunk in between, this cultivar is a hash makers dream. 

BBX2 CBG

OttoBox x Bernabeo backcrossed to a Bernabeo mother. These plants tend to grow vertically with spaced out side branching that create long spear like colas that are covered in resin. Terpenes vary, but are mostly of a sweet earthy nature. If given the space, these plants will grow into massive bushes with flowers that maintain dark purple hues as they fade to finish. These are similar to our OC's except for the addition of the BaOx genetics from the Ottobox. She brings a consistent purple color to the flowers as well as adds weight and density and a more floral profile.

Mad Dog 2020 is the result of new and unique Swiss CBG seeds by way of the Czech Republic. What is unique with this cross is the utterly abrasive and often times disgusting terpene profile. From ammonia to garlic and a citrus like skunk, the profile is loud and in your face. For those looking for Thiol rich aromas and CBG, this may be the one for you.

Mad Dog is a pure type IV CBG Dominant variety created using selections made from the Swiss CBG. 10 different females were initially selected based on flower structure, terpene profile, growth and vigor, as well as pest and mold resistance. These were reversed and used to open pollinate several different cultivars including the most terpene rich of the Swiss CBG. Mad Dog is a sativa dominant variety, similar in growth to Bernabeo, OC, and BBX2. Expect long spear like colas that completely fill in creating a heavy yielding quick flowering plant. She is quick to flower in northern latitudes, finishing before October and matures within 8-9 weeks.

The CBD-dominant Sour Tsunami cut used in this cross has the strongest stalk of any plant we have grown and sports a unique, terpinolene-forward flavor similar to GG4 and the Sour Diesel/Chem/OG lines. Outcrossing this variety to our ERB line yields a unique flavor profile reminiscent of sour candy from outer space. If interstellar travelers needed a sweet and sour snack to keep their head right during adventures, this would be the one! This could be our most popular line.
