Cannabis Chemotypes

CANNABIS CHEMOTYPES I, II, III, IV, V

Cannabis is generally classified by type. With the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill, we are now moving into a world where type I varieties no longer dominate the cannabis market. In this new market, the cannabis type classification system is needed more than ever. Without a consistent language to differentiate the chemical makeup of cannabis chemotypes, consumers and industry insiders will struggle to communicate on the same level.

Type I is THC dominant.

Type II is 1:1 THC to CBD.

Type III is CBD dominant.

Type IV is CBG dominant.

Type V is cannabinoid free

Last but not least are the varins, which include THCV, CBDV, & CBGV. These are new minor-rich varieties of which additional chemotypes may need to be created.
